Nerea Aparicio, Be Just Board Member

Nerea Aparicio is an attorney specializing in the application of international human rights law and the strengthening of the rule of law.

With over 20 years of professional experience in these fields, she currently serves as a legal and public policy advisor to the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Office (CRCL) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is a co-founder and Senior Advisor on Rights and Governance at All in for Development LL.C. (All in), a consulting firm working on international development programs and projects in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.

Previously, she served as Director of the Latin America and Caribbean Division of the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI), Senior Specialist at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS (IACHR), and Human Rights and Justice Officer at the United Nations Mission for the Verification of the Peace Agreements in Guatemala.

She holds a law degree from the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Legal Studies from American University, Washington College of Law, Washington, D.C. She has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association, Spain, since 1997.
